HU accepts transfer coursework from accredited institutions recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
Credits may also be considered from recognized but unaccredited institutions, following additional review steps.
Process:
Submit Official Transcripts: Students must arrange for an official transcript (signed and sealed) to be sent directly from the previous institution to HU’s Admissions Office, either by mail or fax.
Credit Evaluation:
Course Comparability: Credits are evaluated on a course-for-course basis. Course descriptions and credit values must be comparable to HU’s offerings.
Grade Requirements:
Undergraduate courses must have a minimum grade of “C” or higher to be eligible for transfer.
Graduate courses require a grade of “B” or higher for transfer.
GPA Calculation: Transfer grades do not affect the student’s HU GPA.
Additional Steps for Unaccredited Institutions:
Comprehensive examinations to demonstrate achievement.
Review of syllabi, faculty credentials, grading standards, and other relevant resources from the sending institution.
Analysis of historical data on the success of transfers from the institution.
Important Notes:
Students should arrange transfer credits immediately upon receiving an acceptance letter and before registering for HU courses.
Undergraduate and graduate students must complete at least 50% of their total credit requirements at HU.
